Freelance Web Designer (based in Greater Manchester, Cheshire):
Sept 2011 - Present (Full time)

I have undertaken projects involving website design, interface design, company identity and other promotional material for clients, under a freelance guise. I’ve also managed larger projects, outsourcing sections of work to other freelancers in specialist fields where required.

Interactive/Graphic Designer - Interact (Formerly Odyssey Interactive):
May 2009 - Oct 2011 (Full time)

I was responsible for the design and build of the agency’s client websites and intranets which also included various banners and logo designs.

The role primarily centred around the design and build of the client intranets, which were sold as an out-the-box solution with a standard template design, or a bespoke product, in which the design was tailored to suit customer specific requirements.

This was a great lesson in designing and building websites to the limits and restrictions of a CMS. Deadlines were tight too, and I found myself streamlining various design processes in order to meet client expectations.

I was also part of the product support team, where I addressed issues with the user interface and assisted in the continued development of the product's functions and features.

Web Designer/Developer - Work Communications:
Feb 2007 - March 2009 (Full time)

I was responsible for the design and build of the agency’s client websites, e-shots, html emails, and various marketing material for print.

I also developed various functionalities such as contact forms, upload scripts, rss feeds, search facilities, password logins and built a bespoke content management system to offer to our clients.

Another of my duties was the search engine optimisation of the agency’s sites, and management of client’s pay-per-click campaigns.

As a first full time job, I gained an invaluable experience in working in a fast-paced agency environment, working to deadlines, managing client expectations, analysing customer profiles and helping to shape projects according to their requirements.

Web Designer/Developer - Rapidflame Limited:
Oct 2006 - Jan 2007 (Full time - contract)

I was responsible for the design and development of the company’s database-driven website, which featured both an English and Chinese version.

This involved the marketing of the firm’s brand to attempt to increase business via it’s online channel, and also included the development of a control panel designed to enable the firm’s staff to log on and continue to maintain/update the website. I was also required to train the staff to do this.

Interests

From a young age, I have held a strong interest in art, music and film and have always been inspired by a range of creative influences. When I’m not sat in front of a screen, I enjoy keeping fit at the gym.
